My Daily Dozen is run by Vegan Hacktivists, Inc., a U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit. This page explains what we collect when you use mydailydozen.org, why, and what you can do about it. We're responsible for that data. NutritionFacts.org and Dr. Greger don't run this website and don't receive your data from us.
What we collect
- Your account: your name, email address, password (stored as a hash, never in plain text) and time zone. If you turn on two-factor authentication, we also store its secret and recovery codes.
- Your tracking: which food groups you check off on each day. This is what the site is for, and it's what your history page shows.
- Messages you send us: if you use the contact form, we keep your name, email address and message, and email them to our team.
- Sessions: when you visit, we store a session with your IP address and browser type. This keeps you signed in and helps protect your account.
- Error reports: when something breaks, the site sends us an error report so we can fix it. We've set these up not to include personal details.
- Visitor statistics: we count visits with Umami, which we host ourselves. It doesn't use cookies or track you across other websites, and it isn't loaded on the password reset page.
How we use it
We use your data to run your account, show your progress, reply to your messages, keep the site secure and see which pages people use. We don't sell your data, show ads, or use it to market other things to you.
Cookies
We only use the cookies the site needs to work: one to keep you signed in, one that protects forms from forgery, and one to remember you if you tick "Remember me".
Who else handles it
We use a few service providers to run the site: hosting, a content delivery and security network (Cloudflare) and an email delivery service. They only process your data to provide those services to us. We'd also share data if the law required it.
Our servers and providers may be in the United States or other countries, so your data may be stored outside the country where you live.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and tracking history until you delete your account. Contact messages are kept until we've dealt with them, or longer if we need them to answer you later. You can ask us to delete them sooner.
Your choices
You can update your name and email address, or delete your account, under Your Profile. Deleting your account removes your account and your tracking history straight away.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to see the data we hold about you, correct it, get a copy of it, ask us to delete it or object to how we use it. To do any of this, email us at [email protected]. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
